Historic Renovation of City Hall

Guido and Ford, Powell & Carson were chosen as Design-Build Partners for this Historic Renovation of City Hall, a unique project that marked the 2nd time this landmark has undergone a full renovation in 130 years of use.

The LEED Silver project included a blending of the old and new, peeling back the layers of additions and remodel, highlighting historic finishes from 1927, and bringing the building into the modern age. The goal was to have a City Hall for All, including an addition of the new east entrance that allows all visitors to enter at the same location.

Aging infrastructure was replaced, the building was brought up to current codes, and an improved interior and working environment has been created that lowers energy usage. The basement and most of the first floor were converted to public-use spaces for meeting and displays, Council District suites were provided, and the offices were reconfigured with growth space potential.

The project was completed within the approved budget but had a delayed completion due to additional owner enhancements, COVID-related delays, and unforeseen conditions.
