Rivercenter Mall

Shops & Offices

Shops at Rivercenter: 172,000 SF renovation & restoration of the old Joske’s building includes complete refurbishment of the 125 year-old department store, allowing for multiple tenants to move into the space, while preserving the historic facade on three sides of the building.

Phase I East: Work included restoration, reclamation of previously unusable space, and façade and interior upgrades. Outdoor dining facilities, stone facades, and metal roofs are utilized to garner the facility with the warmth of South Texas hospitality. East side construction was comprised of tenant space upgrades to both street and river levels to accommodate new restaurateurs at each level.

Phase II Lagoon North: Encompassed a large amount of open space on the River, Street, and Second levels, to make these areas more efficient. On the River level, the food court was altered to have more seating for patrons. A new ‘U’ shaped bar was placed in the center of the food court so diners can over look the lagoon of the San Antonio River.

“I could go on and on about management, schedules, logistics and all the critical components of project management relative to managing a complex project like this one; however, it all starts with commitment. Your commitment and enthusiastic willingness to go the extra mile is impressive but doing so in the face of what often appeared to be overwhelming circumstances is nothing short of amazing.”

— Bob Burns, Vice President, Ashkenazy Acquisition

Located in the historic Joske's building in the heart of Downtown San Antonio.  The project features more than 100 retailers including 6 restaurants, Macy’s, IMAX, AMC Theaters, and a 1,000 room Marriott Hotel.  Renovation of the Joske’s building began in late 2013. The building was the site of a Dillard’s department store between 1987 and 2008. After Dillard’s left, it sat empty until renovations began. Ashkenazy Acquisition Corp., which owns Rivercenter mall, bought the building in 2005.
